Well it's named.....the name is Wii....

Viva La Revolution

Posted by: NvidiaDude

i dnt like the name of that

Posted by: Jordan Pardy

I don't either. I saw this on an online news site yesterday and I was like 'what the...'? lol

Posted by: ben2the4th

I can't wait to go home and play with my weeeee, and then Johnny is coming over and we are gonna play with each others weeeees all night.

Posted by: Lynch Hung

It's just cause it wasn't expected that it's not liked. I mean how predicatable is "PS3" and "XBOX360" - lol

I think the name will grow on me.

Posted by: Rafe

So its true, I heard about the new name and thought my sources where all bored and just started making things up.

The Wii huh? That’s the stupidest I’ve ever heard.

My faith in Nintendo has just gone down by 34%

If the new Zelda game sucks(like the last 2 games) my faith in Nintendo will be completely gone and I will never purchase another Nintendo product. . . Ever!

Posted by: ulater6000

Even when it comes out I will never call it "Wii" Im still going to go to my local store the day it comes out and ask for a Nintendo Revelution like Ive planned to for months.

Posted by: kfc469

i was just about to make this thread...oh well

i dont like the name either. i think revolution would have been a great name

Posted by: RE4-1337gamer

I have three words for this system: The name sucks. THey should have just stuck with "nintendo revolution."

childish name, Id be embarrased to ask my friends if they wanted to come over and play some "wii." I read on gamespot that that sound doesnt even exist in Japanese, at least thats what some industry analyst said, and I thought to myself, "Why would you creat a product then give it a name that your own people will struggle to pronounce?!"
just an overall odd decision. typical nintendo.

Posted by: thebleakness

I dont like the name at all, like others have said, it sounds childish. I think "revolution" sounds badass. :)

Posted by: Lynch Hung

Get used to it friends.

Posted by: DefragMyHead

I cant imagine how they thought that that's a good idea. not at all. "F*** 'revolution' the world will love the Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!"

I've never been particularly fond of Nintendo consoles, but people need to start getting over little things like this. It is a name; it in no way effects the system or its performance. If it was named "Nintendo pile'o'crap" that shouldn't hinder it. To whomever said their confidence dropped, I just feel sorry for you because that stuff actually matters to you.

I've just become so pessimistic and cynical at the gaming community nowadays because of all of this crap.
Sorry for ranting, but I had to say my piece.

Posted by: Lynch Hung

^ I agree.

The console is gonna make a killing.

Posted by: Joshua93

I'm not really a fan of Nintendo but I think it would sound better and make it more attractive if they kepted the name Nintendo Revolution instead of Nintendo Wii.

I believe that I read somewhere that the "i" represents the unique design of the console and the other "i" represents the unique gathering of people that the console will attract. Either way, yes, it may sound silly. However, if you look at the list of other names that they still have registered that were "strong posibilities" for the console...then you may have second thoughts. A couple were "G bean", "Bemo"....and the ALL TIME KICKER: "Chilipop". Oh yes.....Chilipop. Let's say that all together now shall we? Nintendo Chilipop...

Posted by: killians45

mmmm... chilipop with cheese.

Posted by: jim39n

the new slogan

"Nintendo: When you wanna go wii, but you ain't got drugs yet"

Posted by: ATIRAGEPRO

Shuuure. Wiiiiii..... Why don't we just take a massive Nintendo **iiiii* while we're at it? then they can make a slogan: "Squeeze out a frag...." ect...

It's a shame, really. now nintendo is going to be the butt of many jokes before they get to show their stuff. (I DON'T MEAN IT LIKE THAT!!! ) Personally i'll be glad when Nintendo tones down the whole "childish act" which is why the GameCube wasn't as big of a success as it should have been. If they had better games (instead of too much mario party and Sessame Streetish crap,) they would have had better business.

I think the Japanese pronounce it "Wai" not Wii if there is two "I"'s, I think.

Firstly Nintendo has kept it real and kept doing what they do best for 20 years. They are vets and have no need to change the style of game they make. They are the best software developer. Bottom line.

And secondly. No the Japanese pronounce it "wii" just like anyone else. It is supposed to be a universal name - so it sounds the same no matter who from where says it.

Is the Resident Evil series an anomoly for Nintendo?

Capcom makes different Resident Evil games for different consoles.

Posted by: aaronkupen

Oh, believe me I know. I remember when it was actually released that Resident Evil would be Nintendo only. They would get all the rights to pretty much all the games and also future games.

That was the reason I bought a gamecube actually, I ended up getting jipped when RE4 game out for ps2. I was extremely pleased with out the remake and Resident Evil: Zero turned out. If only other games on nintendo gamecube had graphics up to those standards and had that sort of action/suspense thing to it.

Posted by: FrankieG

Wii? As in What Is It? Gosh, I hope they didn't pay someone a lot of money to come up with that one.

Posted by: aaronkupen

Come on people, I think it is about time to stop criticizing the name of the system. At least talk about something that matters. Again... if the ex-nintendo revolution was named "Nintendo Ginger ale", would that really matter in the least?
