Well, things turned out even better. I brought the power supply back to work this morning so that I could return it to my supervisor. When I did, he said "Why did you take it back out if it worked. It was a gift. What the **** am I going to do with an extra power supply?"

I'm going to throw an Antec EarthWatts 380 in there, which should take care of that for a while (that's what my supervisor lent me). That just leaves the motherboard to fail in the likely not too distant future. :(

Well, I think I figured it out. My supervisor at work lent me an spare ATX power supply. I hooked it up when I got home and the computer booted right up. It looks like the original Dell power supply checked out on the bench with no loads, but couldn't cut the mustard when loads were applied...

I'll look for the two contacts to jump when I get home tonight. If I can find those, then I should be able to test the system without the I/O panel. I was hoping that it wasn't the MB, but an leaning that way at the moment.

Thanks for the additional responses and info. I've visually checked the four pins in each of the two USB ports on the front I/O panel and there are no obvious shorts. I haven't removed the port to check for other possible damage/degradation yet, but will do that tonight when I get home. I wish...

That's part of the problem. When I try and power up, absolutely nothing happens. The blinking power light comes on when I plug the unit it, but pushing the power button does nothing. That seems to be consistent with there being too low of a voltage at Power Good. I need to figure what's...

The 4 lights on the E510 are on the front. All are off.

I have a Dell Dimension E510 that as of yesterday, won't power up anymore. The power light blinks orange and the computer does nothing when the power button is pushed or held in. It's about 16 months old and is out of warranty, so I'm trying to diagnose the problem myself. I did some searching...
