Is it possible your brothers computer is running a torrent program at all times? if so and assuming he has even a few torrents loaded at any given time, he could be simply just choking your upload bandwidth which usually destroys pings to game servers etc...
If this is not the case, do a search...
You choose the user account that exists on the machine you are sharing from, and then when you connect to that computer, you login with the computername\username on the shared machine
Did you right click the folder and go to properties, share tab, advanced sharing, share folder and then select the user account?
when you navigate to the folder from the client machine make sure you use \\computername\sharedfolder
If you have passwords on, you will get a box asking for username...

You should probably change some settings in the network and sharing center's "advanced sharing settings" if you haven't done so already.
To do this:
1. look at the main page of the network and sharing center. Take note of the type of network your network card is using I.E. home/work or public...

There's many tweaks and settings you can set to get the most out of your SSD if on vista/7. I'm not too sure about XP as I've never run that w/ an SSD. Here's a link to a great guide for SSD on vista, much of it applies to 7 which is what I used it for.

no problem, well i looked around I could be wrong about the command. according to another site it is simply sha1sum followed by the filename. So since you did that already and the hash does not match what microsoft has listed then I am going to assume your file is corrupted...
