    100mbps speeds on a 1Gb network

No other traffic on the network, all the drives are 7200rpm sata. As for the setting for full duplex, with nVidia ethernet, the settings are done through the control panel, even if I go to the device properties, then on advanced, it just links me to NV control panel. And there is no option for...

    100mbps speeds on a 1Gb network

I am transferring files that are between 3 and 9 gigs. I am also using Win 7 RC on the HTPC, could that have anything to do with it? I can select 1000 full duplex on my desktop, but the option is not available in the nvidia control panel on the HTPC (nVidia chipset).

    100mbps speeds on a 1Gb network

I am using 2 NICs that are Gigabit capable. The computers are directly connected with a normal cat6 (crossover not needed for GB). When I look at the status of each connection, it indicates a 1 gigabit connection.

    100mbps speeds on a 1Gb network

I am currently running a cat6 cable directly from my desktop to my HTPC. Both have 1gb capability, and both show up as a 1gb connection in the information. However when I transfer files, the speeds are the exact same as when I am going through my 100mbps router (around 8.3 MBps). Any help would...

    Building new PC, need comments

Yea i am getting different opinions from different people. I still reading up a lot. The 4870x2 does do very well, especially as they roll out new drivers. Also the 4870x2 setup i wanted at 1st is 1250$ at most, this recommended one is 1400+, but im still open to suggestions.

    Building new PC, need comments

Alright, so i think i have made up my mind then. I will be going with the i7 920 and 3gb of ddr3 1600 (g.skill pi black unless other recommendations) and an xfx gtx260 black edition. I am planning on overclocking the CPU, and was wondering if the ddr3 1600 will work well with that, or if i...

    Building new PC, need comments

So you guys think replacing the E8500 with the i7 920, with 3GB ddr3, and getting the x260 black edition would be a good trade off? What is the reasoning behind getting 3GB (is it for tripple channel?) Or can i just get 2x2gb? Also what are your thoughts on vista 32bit vs 64bit? Both are...

    Building new PC, need comments

I am getting a 24" monitor, within a month or two. As far as your recommended build, is the loss in graphics power really worth the cpu/mobo/ram upgrade? I mean is it worth loosing that much fps to be able to render or compress something a little quicker? I have considered waiting for the GTX...

    Bios Problem

Are you sure you actually downloaded the newer version of the bios and not just the flash utility?

I have a question...and had no clule where to place it

When you say you dont have ports, you mean they are all used up? How much ram do you have now? You can replace your old ram with newer modules.

    Getting rid of Windows Vista

Set your boot option to cd first (in the bios), put in your xp cd, and reboot. When it asks to push a key to boot off cd, push a key and fallow instructions to install.
