and try mounting again. If not, try a reboot. From what I've seen on the net, it seems like it's happening when users update the kernel.
Personally, I would NFS share it to ubuntu.
As iFargle stated, they are pretty much the same. They use the same repositories too. I've been using Ubuntu at work and I'm thinking of making the switch to Mint w/ Mate desktop since it's a fork of gnome2. I never got used to Unity. It's pretty much personal preference here.

You can use that for reference. You should be able to customize and configure it to your liking w/ Preseed and post preseed script.
Plex - A Complete Media Solution
My go to app for streaming. You could run a plex server and any device w/ plex (android, iphone, jailbroken Apple TV, laptop,workstation) will see it.
You can use youtube-dl.py. It's a python script. You can create batch files and let it go to town.
I've created a script using it so it changes to the correct directory and downloads using my batch file w/ the correct name.
Remember that it needs to be in your path to use it or just change...
Bacula... it's free and isn't too hard to setup. It works well w/ our Windows servers. You'll need a linux box for a server and install the bacula client's on Windows. You can configure the server to take folders and/or specific drives to backup. Best part of all is, it's all free... except...
