    Change MBR on HDD to...

I'm not LLF'ing it. I did that earlier before the OP and it changed nothing. I'm running a random pass 0/1 format on it and for 2TB, 5hrs is pretty efficient. If you've worked with active killdisk before, you'll know how thorough it is, especially at random passes.

    Change MBR on HDD to...

Thanks, but as per earlier post - that's what I'm doing. I'm in the middle of a 5hr random 0/1 format. I'll see what happens then. Just thought someone here would know of a quicker way to change an MBR to uninitialized.

They're both Seagate 2TB sata drives.

    Change MBR on HDD to...

I don't want to get away from the main issue here. We're focusing more on the cctv, cameras & dvr than we are to the OP of getting a HDD back to "uninitialized". The DVR goes into fault without a HDD installed, that's the only reason why I can't see the cameras. To answer the other question...

    Change MBR on HDD to...

Yeah but after I had the new drive formatted, I placed it in the DVR and (like you) the DVR auto formatted the drive anyway - but I still can't see any cameras and the DVR lists "no disk found"??? I took the new HDD back out, stuck it into my PC, checked it out and it still reads as MBR. As...

    Change MBR on HDD to...

Thanks for the reply. I don't know if GParted LiveCD is required or not as there are no partitions on the HDD at all. When I right click My Computer -> Manage -> under Disk Manager, it shows that the disk is "Basic", "Online", but "Unallocated". I attached a jpeg URL, but it needs to be...

    Change MBR on HDD to...

Hi all, Probably a daft question here, but I need to "completely wipe" an old 2TB HDD that was previous an MBR for Win7. I'm now looking to use it in a DVR for CCTV (to replace a fried HDD) but it can't be an MBR or GPT. I checked the old drive first and it's "status" was 'Not...

Blocking sites - but only on one connection ???

Hi, Thanks again for the quick reply. Not really looking to get another router and/or reconfigure it for now - my Netgear is practically brand new. Never ventured anywhere near Windows Parental Controls and/or whatever K-9 is either. I'll play around with the advanced router settings I...

Blocking sites - but only on one connection ???

Thanks again for the further reply. From what I understood a few months ago when making the purchase, the Netgear WNDR4500v2 router (N900-WiFi Dual Band Gigabit Router-Premium Edition) was fairly advanced and certainly overkill for what I needed. It handles all of my traffic and copes...

Blocking sites - but only on one connection ???

Hi again carnageX, OK, so I've managed to navigate my way around the router's advanced settings and made various changes which appear to be working. As above however, I'd ideally prefer not to have a message saying that X website is "Blocked by Netgear Firewall" in big bold letters splashed...

Blocking sites - but only on one connection ???

Hi carnageX, Thanks for your reply. I'm operating via a Netgear router (WNDR4500v2) as although I have a cable modem (a crappy Thompson from my ISP) I was able to hack the MIB string to enable 'bridge mode'. Anyway, as a result - I have access to the Netgear Genie so I can see 'attached...

Blocking sites - but only on one connection ???

Hi all, I've been 'googling' to find a complete solution to this, but haven't been successful thus far. I've also read several threads here since joining the community, but they were more geared towards entire networks & therefore had a different approach. First off, I know a bit about PCs. I...
