I recommend changing the wireless channel on the Asus router. Sounds like something happens to interfere with the wireless signal when the axis cameras try to make a connecton.
Sometimes there can be settings in the firewall of the gateway that can cause this. Try turning off all firewall options then reboot it and see how it runs.

If it worked with Comcast but later stopped working and you didn't change anything. First thing I would check is that the internal IP address of the work desktop did not change. It should match the IPs in the port forwarding rules you put in the modem for port 3389.

It could be wireless interference, perhaps a neighbor's new wireless router or something. I'd recommend going into the modem settings and changing the wireless channel.
Some reset buttons on routers need to be held in for a bit for the reset to take affect, not sure what your model requires. You may want to check the user guide on this to see what it says about resetting it.

You might try connecting the cam straight into the modem, see if you can get to it from across the internet. If it works you know that either the port forwarding on the firewall is wrong or it needs other ports open your not aware of.
