I feel dumb not having tried a wired connection. I ran the tests over wireless. As soon as it acts up again I'll try wired to see if there's a difference. Firmware is up to date.
It's setting up VPN as a service on the router. So when I'm away I can connect to my home network. With that said, I disabled it anyway to see if there's a difference. But even still the issues have only happened twice making it hard to test.
So I picked up an X10 Nighthawk R9000 a little over 2 weeks ago. All I've setup other than basic wireless settings is OpenVPN on the router. Unfortunately twice now I've experienced the below issues.
* All web activity is slow
* Remote desktop over LAN is crawling
* It'll take 10 seconds to...
EDIT: Well formatting as FAT32 worked.
I recently purchased an M.2 SSD for my laptop. After cloning the the hard drive to the SSD I wiped the original hard drive using Gparted. Strangely I'm unable to view the hard drive in disk management in Windows 8.1 but Gparted has no issue viewing the...
Thanks, pulled the trigger on the SeaSonic and PNY.
While you're right that building your own PC from parts is usually the way to go, and it's what I've always done, I'm not too disappointed with this deal. I'll have to see the machine in person next time I visit him, but the mobo is a...
Cost wise I'm actually looking at a Corsair 750 W PSU and PNY GTX 770 GPU. How do these sounds? Would the PSU fit the case?

So I couldn't get him to budge on building the entire system himself. Today I ran across another Dell XPS 8700 and pulled the trigger. It's a bit cheaper than the Costco deal I posted earlier with 4 GB less ram. The total was about $621 after taxes. Someone posted a 25% off Dell coupon today and...
It's been a few years and as always I'm out of the loop on the next best equipment. This time however, I'm looking for a rig for my brother-in-law. I don't believe he wants to build his computer from scratch but I can help him if need be. He's looking for a PC at a budget of roughly $1,000 and...
I placed a drop of clipper oil in the fan but the buzzing remains. Sadly, I think something is off balance now as I hear a small noise sometimes coming from the fan. As I mentioned before, if I turn the fan up the buzzing goes away immediately and if I wait long enough, I can turn the fan back...
About two months ago my DC jack burnt out along with my motherboard. Luckily I managed to get MSI to cover the repair and to top it off, they upgraded my motherboard and graphics to a GTX 670m. Here's a thread where I talked about it...
About 4 months ago I sent my laptop into MSI with a broken DC jack. I could not charge my laptop with my charger or another individuals charger. After about 1 1/2 months I finally received my laptop back fixed with it being fully covered under warranty.
Unfortunately two weeks ago I was forced...

Thank you for the quick response. I've attached an image of the speeds. I used ATTO Benchmark which displays sequential speeds right?
The servers stay on 24/7 so we haven't worried too much. It's mostly been the installation of Hyper-V and clustering that has required many restarts. I'll...
