    Wireless Problem

Is WPS (WiFi Protected Setup) enabled on the router? I was helping my brother get set up at his new apartment, and W7 was able to see the AP, but refused to connect. Disabling/turning off WPS (in the router) made the connection work.

    USB works. Flash drive doesn't.

How old of a kernel are you using? I remember I had this problem a long time ago, but it was remedied with a kernel update. I remember being able to format the stick to NTFS with gparted and then being able to use it. Worth a try.

    GPU/Temp OC Tools.

I liked ATI tool because you could bump up the clock speeds in tiny intervals and then run a stress test. It was great for finding the threshold on my old video cards.

    Won't power on..

Take the battery out, but plug the laptop in. I found one time that this dead battery prevented the computer from loading the os. It would just halt. But as soon as I removed the dead battery, it worked perfectly.

    I really hate vista!!!!!

Re: I ***#*$*&#$%*(#$& hate vista!!!!! I've never had vista wake up from sleep on its own. I used it at school for the past year and put it to sleep probably every day in class, multiple times. Did you ever think that maybe it's your hardware? Maybe the manufacturer messed up. But now that I...

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin Single Player Demo

I downloaded this a little while ago and was surprised that it ran so well on my computer. The only part that suffered for me was the outside section. I loved the first FEAR. This new one looks promising. They have changed a few things though that I wasn't too fond of. The enemies seem to have...

Gears Of War PC Hits Expiration Date

I saw Gears at Circuit city the other day for cheap so I picked it up. It was a nice surprise to find that after ~30 minutes of installation, I get a "can't execute modified code blah blah" message. What else is sweet is the fact that they haven't released a fix for this expired signatures...

    Comcast's change of plans

I live in Oregon. I am not debating that 250 gigs isn't a lot of bandwidth. It is, and there's no way I even come close to using that much. But I could totally see that number dropping many a time to a much smaller amount. It just sounds like something comcast would do.

    Comcast's change of plans

So I was checking my comcast email account the other day (never use it) and found this little gem. They are finally acknowledging a bandwidth cap. Haha bout time. I don't really like where this could lead though, especially with the amount of stuff that is so bandwidth-heavy nowadays...

Opening Up A New MSI GX620 Gaming Notebook (56k No No)

I'm pretty sure it is. When you buy vista, you are pretty much buying the serial, not the cd. So if you use the same serial that you are currently using, it should be just like a reformat. I have done this a ton of time and have not had any problems. But be sure you are using the same...

Opening Up A New MSI GX620 Gaming Notebook (56k No No)

That is why the day I got my laptop I did a reformat and used an oem install disc. I hate the garbage that comes installed with pre-built computers.

Opening Up A New MSI GX620 Gaming Notebook (56k No No)

Hahahaha. Laptop looks pretty sick. That is kind of weird that they put a void warranty sticker over stuff you should be able to replace by yourself.

    64-Bit options

At least shoot for home premium. Home basic sounds terrible. I have installed home premium x64 for a buddy and I liked it. How much ram are you going to put in?

Windows XP on one partition, programs on another

If it's something like a game, you can find the related registry entries and make a backup of them, then add them to the fresh install. I have done it because I have my games on a separate partition. Honestly though, it's a lot of work for getting so little accomplished. You might as well...
