At least from my experience, I've found that people with little computer knowledge love XP than Vista or 7. And personally I love XP as its simple and works great for me...

Looks good. I've tried most of the stuffs discussed here but didn't have success with my xp machine. Maybe that was more related to hardware issues. Anyway why install Vista/7 if these become slow on your system? XP is still so good. Anyway nice guide. Will surely help some guys out here.

Just few spelling corrections: its Hexadecimal not hexidecimal and its kernel not kernal Otherwise seems a good guide. Didn't test any of them though.

Well I think you're looking for the tools like LAN Flow & Bandwidth monitoring - OsMonitor. Also, I guess windows XP used to have some tool called perfmon which could be used for this purpose.

As already suggested, try Linux. And yeah Ubuntu is quite friendly so you might want to give it a try. I've never installed windows in my laptop. I've enjoyed ubuntu so much. So just suggesting you.
