If you just want the log on screen to be disabled and th windos Xp to go irectly into Desktop with out any prompt asking you to select User name try below steps. Start -> Run... -> control userpasswords2 Uncheck the "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer" checkbox...

Also please try writing disc at once. If it is set to Disc at one, then try Track at once. You could also try any otehr free CD burning software's. That will help in checking whether is it any issue with CD or the CD Burner

Ensure that there are no Floppies or CD in the drives, if it is there they should be Bootable. Else try making the Hard drive first boot device and OS should be there in hard drive. Nekul

If the computer is an branded one ask your friend to contact the support for the company. YOu can also perform an online scan from any of hte antivirus website. like Symantec.com or Mcafee. Nekul

Did you try to enable from Right click on My Computer > Properties> System restore Tab and enabling and disabling.

i think norton is good, i suggest that you can check your start up items and can remove any unwanted programs starting at boot time. to spped up your computer

hi You can go tho symantec site and search for the error message they will have specific documents for solving the error, or post a query to their email support, they will deal the issue quit fast way.
