    mac os on normal computer?

Sure, a hard drive can have anything installed (HFS, HFS+, Fat32, NTFS. LFS, etc.) but thats not the computer itself (generally only taking into account the motherboard and CPU).

    mac os on normal computer?

I am thinking that Mac OS X would have the advantage as its Unix...less overhead while running, and of course, less virii.

    mac os on normal computer?

Just to start off...Apple Computers makes the Mac. Just a little pet peeve, no harm intended. Mac OS X is based off FreeBSD (10.0 was BSD 4.2, 10.2 is BSD 4.4, 10.3 is BSD 5.0) which is Unix. Basically all Linux, Unix, Java, Mac OS 9 and Windows app run nicely in their various incarnations...

    mac os on normal computer?

"porno"? Since when do I need to look at porno? As for Macs, I now have 3 and I only switched 3 years ago. Not a bad tally. I moved in with my Windows using mate about 4 months ago...we are getting him a PowerBook G4 shortly and I am upgrading to a G5 as well...kinda strange when there are two...

    mac os on normal computer?

Hi Ho, I would be happy to give you a race. My PowerMac Dual 867 (10.2.6) has its uptime pegged at 4 and a bit days right now (due to power failure). Want to see how far we can take our machines? I know, you have the disadvantage in that you do not have a professional grade operating system but...

    The Mac G5 kicks ass

"if there is no such machine, howw could they have possibly run the test?" On boot the firmware of the Mac can be changed to disable a processor. The firmware can also control CPU speed (as in Ghz), bus speed, voltage and other hardware settings such as PCI and AGP support. It is also used to...

    The Mac G5 kicks ass

"in answer to your question, mj, wither the P4 or Xeon is capable of addressing up to 64GB of ram(it doesnt have to be a 36 bit processor as 36 x 2 doens not = 64, it is 32 x 2, 36 bit doesnt even make sense as most computer specs are based on the powers of 2 which 36 is not." Oi? To address...

    The Mac G5 kicks ass

Just to enlighten me, which Intel processor that is 32bit can address 64Gb or RAM? I have never heard of a processor being 36bit although there are 42bit interconnects to enable it to address more than 4Gb of HD space. As for the first on the market...Apple made a dubious point there but then...

    The Mac G5 kicks ass

Yup, I know...but at this time the G5 can only handle 8Gb of RAM.

    The Mac G5 kicks ass

"As I have stated MANY times.. In a video or graphical editing environment... Generally speaking... Macs are superior to X86 based PCs.. I have recently found that many of the highest end video editors used by movie studios for cinematic releases are Windows based. That was a bit of a surprise...

    The Mac G5 kicks ass

"apokalipse,it doesn't matter to me what this guy is trying to say or is saying against me. i'm not posting here to change his opinion. i have mine and he has an opinion of his own. and i'm sure you have your own too. I'm not trying to combat him,..its useless to do that to a guy who doesn't...

    The Mac G5 kicks ass

"Note: I have seen no information suggesting a partnership between IBM and Apple, but I will take you at your word and comment accordingly. Please (for my personal edification) provide furthur information as I was, apparently, unaware of this. Now on to my comments......." At this time Apple...

    The Mac G5 kicks ass

"Hydra - (basically) a networkable, sharable high end desktop publishing solution." Yes, you could compare it to Lotus notes but then you would be missing the point. Lotus did not have auto-discovery via Rendezvous. Lotus did not have hooks into Project Builder. Lotus did not have the standard...

    The Mac G5 kicks ass

hanks for the info. but thats not going to entice me into buying a G5, because its still lame-ass, although my mom is considering of buying one. Weird isn't it. oh well. good to know that there is still a healthy competition between MAC users and PC users. bottom line,..Intel and AMD will kick...
