Best free AV, Spyware and something to detect/prevent jey logging?

no software firewall at all? First thing I'd suggest either windows firewall or a 3rd party firewall, router alone isn't enough if you want good security IMO. Keyloggers require admin rights to install since they hook into the system at a low level, just like a driver. UAC in theory should...

Seems fishy to me too, any follow to this story? Even though the address bar was green, did you click on the padlock and closely read the certificate? Past few years I've made a habit of not giving my CC# online unless its I type the address directly in the address bar see 'https' and check...

Is it Time to Reconsider Firefox? YES!!!!!!!!

would be nice if the study provided some detail, such as what % of the exploits were triggered through add ons, whether those were updated versions of the add ons, what version of FF was tested, which add ons they were, or whether this is a default installation or what the settings in the...

    IE8 won't open & crashes instantly

just spent some time google searching for possible fixes and closest I found was a trick off the MS website I already tried, which didn't work again. How often do you reinstall XP?

Every couple of years I'll reformat. I only install lightweight apps that I really need, if I ever do uninstall something I use regclean, ccleaner, and autoruns to make sure anything uninstalled is really off my system. Keeping windows xp very clean like this I've never noticed a slowdown...
