Corrupted thumb drive (invalid device descriptor)

My thumb drive got corrupted while seatools was loading (it was an older version). I backed it up, but not for a couple of weeks. Windows pops up and says it doesn't recognize it when I put it in, and it shows up in Device Manager as- unknown usb device (invalid device descriptor) No file...

How do you know if you fired your motherboard?

No post codes, just FF. Based on my research it's very rare for a bad CPU to kill the board. I had the board for 9 years and only just overclocked it about a year ago. There were no problems but just moving it after heavy overclocking is probably what killed it. No worries, time for an upgrade...

How do you know if you fired your motherboard?

I was using the Lycom DT-120 adapter. I don't think that could cause motherboard problems could it? There was nothing odd looking about the Xeon CPU.

How do you know if you fired your motherboard?

How do you know if you fired your motherboard? 1. Your motherboard stops working. 2. Your motherboard makes annoying beeps. 3. Your motherboard files a complaint with the EFF. 4. Your motherboard storms out of your house. 5. Your motherboard gives you the "FF" error- "Fatally ****ed".

How do you know if you fired your motherboard?

I got the Xeon CPU from ebay, so I guess it's the culprit. It must have damaged the mobo circuitry, which would explain why the other older CPU wouldn't work...Kind of a bummer- was hoping for an easy upgrade and now I have no motherboard and probably two worthless CPUs..

How do you know if you fired your motherboard?

So I tried upgrading my old evga x58 with a Xeon X5675 processor and a Samsung 950 Pro with the adapter. First try gave the "FF" post code with no post. I reset the CMOS and reseated everything- the same- so I replaced the CPU with the old Intel and the old SSD- but still the same "FF". I've...

flash drive doesn't appear until one hour

Wondering if someone else had this problem. My flash disk is about 2 years old, usb 2, works fine on my desktop but when I plug into my laptop it won't appear in explorer- until after about an hour, each time. I tried reformatting it, testing it with software, uninstalling in device manager...

    v4 compatible dual socket boards

To be safe I'll probably have to go with the 2 X Xeon E5-2689 v4 10-Core 3.1GHz turbo 3.8 (approx. $4500) and for the motherboard the ASUS Z10PE-D8 WS EEB Server Motherboard Dual LGA 2011-3 ($750). So with the P5000 ($2550 CAD), 64 GB of ram, 512 gb nvm ssd, psu, and coolers I'm looking at...

    v4 compatible dual socket boards

This is my dream of designing (and god willing) building a space plane. So I'll need to simulate hypersonics in a virtual wind tunnel. That will take both speed plus lots of cores. Budget is around $8000 not including the software. I'll start out with free software and later perhaps move on to...

    v4 compatible dual socket boards

Building a high end CAD rig... I've decided on the Intel Xeon E5-1650 v4 Broadwell 3.6 GHz LGA 2011-3 for the speed, https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA66K4MK0593 but I'd like a dual socket board (in case I decide I want crazy future upgrades). I was going to settle on the...

    upgrading an older X58

Time for an upgrade. I've done a fair bit of research but I just get confused with so much info. so would like a clearer opinion. I don't need 24 GB of ram, I think I'll start out with 8 GB, and then go with a video card but I don't need the greatest GPU and I want this system to last me another...
