46Mb through a 100Mb port is pretty fair. You don't actually get a 100Mb of bandwidth though a 100 Mb port, as there is quite a bit of overhead lost in framing etc. A Gb switch to replace that old 10/100 Netgear would probably help. Would be nice to hear how it worked out for you.
