    FTP servers

Sounds to me like you were clarifying that you thought it was a client only  Regardless, if you forward your ports (20 and 21 should do it), and u have a public/statc ip and or dyndns setup (some routers even connect to it automatically for you and keep it updated) If you are interested...

Why would one of my HD's transfer data 3 times faster than another?

Cache is all fine and good, but what are your RPMs? if its 5400 vs 7200 that might explain it... but that is a huge difference so several things might be at work here... do the hard drives all connect to the same controller?

    Too Much RAM

Agreed, usually the mobo will just ignore the slots with the extra RAM, might give an error on POST. One 2 GB stick shouldn't be a problem, but it might be worth trying to use two 1GBs, if the mobo manual calls for it, sometimes manufacturers use cheap/wonky parts which can't deal with such...

    oc ram/mobo help

I would recommend this: Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL8D-4GBRM It is probably your best bet, if you look closely at the specs for the mobo, even 1600 requires some Overclocking to be done (OC) I would...

LAPTOP PROBLEM!! URGENT HELP NEEDED PLEASE!

For gods sake man, burn a CD of your documents once a month at least! You "normal users" and your lack of backups! I have a RAID 10 server storing all my files, redundancy!

    OS X 10.4 Tiger

My bad I should have asked for you to pull up a About my Mac window and tell me what processor you had in your machine. I do not have any non-hardware specific Tiger discs so hopefully someone else can help you there.

Port scanning reveals FTP port is closed - yet I forwarded it. Thoughts?

No, your port will be considered closed if the Firewall is blocking it (are you absolutely certain the firewall is off?) Also if the FileZilla server isn't actually live or is live on a different port than you would get that output as well, check your settings and that FileZilla server is running.

    Mac Game Deletes Files Permanently

I have seen this game, and I am dying to try it, gotta build up an OSX VM first tho ;-)

    OS X 10.4 Tiger

Interesting... Honestly the Leopard only disc will do a full install, I know this because I formatted the hard drive before using it to install Snow Leopard (never trusted upgrade mode) and so I think good old Apple is trying to pull one over on people with that. Do as you wish, 'tis your money.

    OS X 10.4 Tiger

Why don't you just upgrade to Snow Leopard? It only costs like $30.00 USD, I fail to see the point in upgrading to something 2 versions behind, do you have some specific hardware/software reason for this?

    Linux Installation Problem

This could be a driver issue with Fedora Core and the SSD that you are using, you should Google for people getting similar errors with Fedora Core/Red Hat variants on OCZ SSDs

    Email server help

Email is pretty much always done by domain name. I don't know what purpose it would serve you to have @IP address. If you plan to actually use this to communicate with people I suggest you get a domain (have it hosted) and set its MX records to your server and then just make sure your server can...

    Ethernet

Ok, the doctor needs a consult. Does anyone, anyone at all know why the Ethernet specification allows for two sending and receiving lines in CAT5 cable? I have been looking forever and no one seems to know, or at least talk about it. Thanks

    stuck pixel

Well I did consider that, but I wondered how one would do that? :-P Also he did buy it direct from lenovo. At this point he is considering a return, I don't blame him, I couldn't even get the hybrid graphics system to work correctly after he did a reinstall (he already had a vista business...

    stuck pixel

Ok, I have a question, my friend bought a new Thinkpad T500 (I am jealous, but maybe not) and he has a "stuck" pixel on the screen (its bright green). Lenovos policy is 3 or more, so he cant get it replaced. Any suggestions? (Yes i tried jscreenfix on it already and the eraser/microfiber...
