    Experience w/ Lenovo

As an IT pro, almost every office environment I've worked in so far has used Thinkpads, and for good reason. They're about the best you can find. I would stay away from the ideapad line, though, as quality drops off pretty radically when you move down from business to the consumer tier systems...

Looking for a modern Thinkpad X201s replacement

Hi All, Lenovo discontinued their x__1s series notebooks after the X201s in 2010. Their newer models all feature slower processors, larger form factors, and a touchpad. Furthermore the newest lenovo laptops like the x240 no longer feature full docking stations with optical bays, or fully...

    Consistently Inconsistent Memory Issues....

I have successfully discredited the ATS test by running it on another board. It appears that it will always fail if running on more than 2GB of memory. Since it passes all other memory tests, I will assume it is fine.

    Consistently Inconsistent Memory Issues....

Ok, let's start from the beginning... MSI P6N SLI-Platinum (650i SLi) 4G (4x 1G) G.Skill D9GMH Micron DDR2-800 Intel Core 2 Duo Conroe E6600 After unplugging an IDE drive from my mainboard, the machine refused to POST. I removed half of the memory, and it would run. It didn't matter which...

Run an LCD monitor at ABOVE it's native resolution?

(Simulated) higher viewable area (same or lower detail, simulated anti-aliasing by downscaling higher res), higher detail available in screenshots or on remote machines that have larger monitors. The machine has the power... though I'm not sure if the downscaling is done on the driver or...

Run an LCD monitor at ABOVE it's native resolution?

I have a 1280x800 display at the moment... but I need to fool a fullscreen app into running at 1920x1200 or higher (preferably higher), without breaking... is there a way to hack the display driver to run at a resolution above native, and stretch (compress) the higher resolution down to the...

Matshita DVD-R UJ857E Driver suddenly unrecognized by Windows in Boot Camp.

It was working last week, now I need my optical drive to burn a project, and it's not there. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, etc... no dice. Windows says it's corrupt or missing. Of course I can't reload the original drivers, because I don't have an optical drive to put the disk...

WET54G Wireless Ethernet Bridge config help please?

It's an actiontec, and I did actually get it working... the modem for whatever reason had changed IP addresses on me in the middle of the process and was conflicting with my bridge settings. I also discovered that the interface on the bridge for the security settings was made of solid failure...

WET54G Wireless Ethernet Bridge config help please?

I'm trying to configure a WET54G Wireless Ethernet Bridge... ultimately I want to connect it to a remote wireless modem, and to a local WRT54G wireless router, such that the bridge can access the network wirelessly from the remote wireless modem, and then pass the signal to the router/switch...

Identifying a Windowsless process stealing focus from firefox and other apps?

I have procxp... doesn't do a thing as far as identifying such things. Most you can do is drag-drop onto an active window to ID the process, but since there's no window for the process stealing focus, it won't do it.

Identifying a Windowsless process stealing focus from firefox and other apps?

I'm running Windows XP Profesional SP3 via Bootcamp on an early '08 model Macbook. 2.2GHz T7500 Merom 1GB RAM OS and all drivers and apps fully updated Additional software and drivers include: InputRemapper (necessary to screenshot without a PrtScrn key) bLend (window transparency settings)...

Need to screencap in Windows without a PrtScrn Key

Wow, I had no idea IrfanView had this feature, or I would have been using it already... that's some software I usually install anyway. Thanks. Butyeah, InputRemapper will do it quite nicely, as long as you're willing to wade through the interface and have a USB keyboard with a printscreen key...

Need to screencap in Windows without a PrtScrn Key

Yes, I am firmly against spending $ on the ability to use a windows feature that should be there, much less $$ (Snagit I believe is around $50, which is a LOT for that feature.)

Need to screencap in Windows without a PrtScrn Key

Yeah, Fraps is trialware... and running it from an app or batchfile means I need to have the app or batchfile visible on the screen while taking the screenshot. If that wasn't a problem, I'd just use the onscreen keyboard. :/ inputremapper can do it... but to bind a key to it, you need to press...
