    2nd set of eyes 10GBE

I'm running windows 10 pro on the main machine, and 10 enterprise on the nas. So no, not server OS. Is it safe to assume server drivers aren't compatible with standard windows 10, or is it one of those 'only way to know is try' types of situations?

    CPU heatsink upgrade

LOL, for a core 2 quad with original heat sink, i'd bet that it's just the thermal paste that has gone bad. If you're planning to replace the heat sink anyway, you're going to need new thermal paste. might be a good idea to get a tube and test it out before you buy a new heat sink.

Windows 10 Kills PC On Restart

Did you completely wipe the drive (Dban, etc.), not just reformat it, before you reinstalled windows?

Pairing RAM with one that is soldered on the motherboard

You shouldn't have any issues due to the timing/speed difference, it'll all just run at whatever is slower. There are two problems i can forsee: A. you'll find it's not actually soldered to the motherboard, which means, you'll need a 16GB stick of ram to replace the old 8GB stick, or B. if it...

    How to rid Microsoft Edge

Disabled, sure, but it's still there, you can't *remove* it.

    How to rid Microsoft Edge

Settings>personalization>lock screen>lockscreen drop down. just change it to picture... EDIT: you can't really get rid of edge, not completely. it's like explorer was for windows 8 & earlier. It's baked into the operating system for a bunch of things, like search, or signing into wifi networks...

    Computer upgrade

Might be too late/already answered, but the gpus can be bought in a form factor that will fit the large one or the small one. but if you're motherboard only has pcie 1.0, and NOT 2.0, i'd go with the long pcie port (x16)

    Computer upgrade

i'd bet you can fit at least a gt 710 or even gt730 in there with that pcie extender. take a measurement from the rear of the case to the big bulky black cables next to the psu, and that'll determine your maximum gpu length. the 710 and 730 are both half height/half length, so they should fit...

    Building an external hard drive

After mulling it over, i think this is the best option. It looks like there's a usb port on the back of the one you have currently, so if you find an enclosure with a female USB-A port, you should be able to butt it up against the current opening and maybe super glue it in. Something like this...

    Digitizing my DVD movie collection

In the US, it's a grey area. No movie company has tried testing the legal theories that people who own a copy of an item can copy that item for archival purposes. The librarian of congress makes exceptions to copyright law that allow things LIKE this, but not explicitly this.

    Building an external hard drive

Strollin is probably right. Unless money is no object, it'll probably be much more cost effective to find a new enclosure. it'll be difficult finding a board that will fit that box. Though, since you're putting ssd's in there, it might have enough leftover space to jerry rig something, and just...

Upgrading Hard Drive on a MacBook Pro, Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014 (MacBookPro11,1)

That adapter should work, but it might be easier/cheaper to just buy the correct drive. Iirc OCZ has the ones that work w/o an adapter.
