but thats what ive been doing and i haven't been able to decide whats toast, i think its the mobo, i guess i can try my psu on another comp, and if i were to try the cpu on my other motherboard, if the cpu was damaged could it in any way effect my other motherboard?

if your asking wheter it is a master or slave on ide 1 or 2. then it would be a slave on ide2 and is runing of a split power supply cord thing. i have a 500watt though so it shouldnt be a problem. \

i have a generic CD-RW and it shows as a CDROM in windows2k.
any ideas why, it shows as a bte1486 or something in the bios, it also says it is a CDRW, which it is.

yea i kno that but it is supposed to clock at 2.083 because it clocked at that for a while and now it does this for some reason, also it said on the box that it clocks at that speed.
