    Mute Modem dial-up sounds

I think cutting open my laptop case to find the internal modem might void the warrantySorry, it just annoys me when people don't read my responses. Thanks for trying to help anyway...

    Mute Modem dial-up sounds

I just found the solution. A little goggling revealed that all I had to do was add "M0" to the modem's initialization commands. I tried it, and it worked. Thanks to all who offered suggestions.

    Mute Modem dial-up sounds

Mikes, the only volume option I found on the modem was the volume slider. Alvin, the only controls I have are Wave, SW Synth, Cd Player, and PC Speaker. Disabling the SW Synth and PC Speaker had no effect on the dial up sounds.

    Mute Modem dial-up sounds

It's definitely coming through my speakers, probably because it's an internal modem inside my laptop.

    Mute Modem dial-up sounds

I have a Copper.net basic dial up connection, and I use Windows XP to dial up (No 3rd party dialing programs). However, the sounds of my internal modem dialing always come through my speakers when I dial, and I am forced to either mute the sound temporarily or listen to the annoying and loud...

Stop modem redialing when connection lost

Several people I know in my area (One 4-5 miles) have Yahoo DSL available. However, after checking numerous websites the only DSL available for me is Earthlink, which is $40 a month after the first six months. I don't really want to pay that much, although I might consider it in a year or so...

Stop modem redialing when connection lost

I use PhoneTray Dialup to disconnect from the internet whenever a phone call is received. However, my modem automatically redials 60 seconds after the connection is lost. How can I keep it from doing this? I have a Copper.net connection that uses the default Windows XP dialing program...

    Vista Icons

Is there any free to make my XP desktop icons look like those of Windows Vista? I would prefer a packaged program that would automatically replace all my icons, but I couldn't find a good free one online. Thanks, -CompFreak247

Yay, another firefox update. *goes to download it*. I'm still waiting for Firefox 3, though... Hopefully that'll add everything else I want Firefox to do without extensions (Which, by the way, isn't much)

    WindowsBlinds: Updates free or not?

Ok, so I think I'm going to get WindowsBlinds. It has a large user base, and very cool skins. I have two questions, however. First and foremost is: Once you purchase WindowsBlinds, do you automatically get the next version when it comes out for free? For example, if I buy Version 5 now, when...

    Free Skinning Programs

Alright, thanks a lot Makaveli213. I'll probably just use the trial of WindowsBlinds. However, are you sure it dosn't use any resources? Last time I used it (A year or two ago), it seemed like there was a performance hit. However, I downloaded several other desktop enchancements, such as...

    Free Skinning Programs

Umm.... I'm new to these forums so I must be missing something. I thought he was referring to illegally downloading the full version of WindowsBlinds over a p2p client, such as BitTorrent. I said I didn't want to illegally download it, and would rather get it legally. Could you please...
