Hi, ive searched the forums but can't find a solution for this problem that works. trying to connect to the internet on my MBP via ethernet i get a "self-assigned IP" and can't connect. I have other computers connecting to the internet fine through my home network so i know the problem does not...

hi my work has disabled the proxy settings within ie... they are all greyed out. to use ie at home i obviously need to be able to change them. any ideas? carey

ok, well i'm assuming most of you are familiar with ourtunes... a program which allows you to download music form a shared library over a LAN.... very VERY usuful tool HOWEVER... unfortunatly ourtunes doesn't work any more (ever since the release of iTunes 7) ........ does anyone have any news...

yeah they're right, you'll be fine, there isn't different types of IDE (that i'm aware of)... and even if there were older versions of IDE (i don't think there is but i stand ready to be corrected lol) i can guarentee you your new mb will connect no probs to ur new hdd enjoy!

ok... could someone please clearly explain to me the difference between TCP/IP and ethernet... this probably sounds like a dumb question and i think im asking it the wrong way... ie from what i can gather tcp/ip is part of ethernet... but i still dont really get it. from what my IT text book...

hey... i am in the market for a new keyboard and need some advice... my current kb is quite nice ms wireless desktop, however it makes too much noise and drives everyone around me crazy... so i need a new one... i am looking for a new wireless desktop, kb mouse, i was thinking of a logitech one...

not really... just using it for ur basics, surfing etc, waiting till i get my new mac book pro, just need a bit more ram to tide me ova lol.... so yeah, anyone know what type i need? thx

hey... i was wondering if anyone could figure out what type of RAM that is in the pic below? that is my current 512 stick, and i desperately need to get another stick, but i don't want to risk getting the wrong type and having all sorts of computability issues... the ram is prob about 6 years...

Hey, I am wanting to purchase a new external HDD... i have no room left in my case but im gonna get a caddy and run it through USB2... would there be any advantage in getting a SATA II caddy and HDD over simply getting an IDE caddy and HDD, if i'm just going to be running them through usb2...

Do you have another PC with similar parts that you can go through and test each part of your new PC with? If you do just get your working computer, and replace the ram with the ram from your non-working computer... if it works then the ram is fine.... do this with all the parts to find the dodgy...

Ok well that makes more sense thanks... so what exactly is different in the technology of a core processor and a pentium processor? what makes the core processors so much better even though pentium processors can have much higher clock speeds?

... ...surely this is contradictory, you say there is "no advantage of dual core over single core in single threaded application" and yet you say that "Each core in Core 2 duo 2.4GHz is better than P4 3.6GHz" ... surely if each core is better in a Core 2 Duo 2.4 than a P4 3.6 then dual core...
