    Cache really important for gaming?

I might get a budget gaming rig someday and my possible processor options are a E3200 or a E5200. Does the cache affects that much on gaming? (It will be only for gaming, I have a regular PC for normal stuff.)

    is 8gb of ram overkill?

As far as I know, today there's no application that can eat up all 8gb of RAM. Such as bkolk told, 4gb is plenty and sholud be enough for a gaming computer. (As far as you don't use iTunes, Messenger, Photoshop, Cryisis, Flash and many aplications at the same time, LOL.)

Well, I just installed Windows 7 RTM on a friend's netbook. It runs pretty good, but sometimes touchpad stops working and Aero gets disabled by itself. I didn't install drivers because device manager detected them out from the box, the only ones I installed were Intel Chipset driver and Intel...

    My $1,054 Gaming Rig Build

My suggestion would be to go with Intel. A Core 2 Duo or a Pentium Dual-Core are very good overclockers and gamers.

    Most efficient upgrade?

CPU is ok. Get 2gb of RAM DDR2 800. Based on Tom's Hardware, the best bang for the buck is a 9600gt. Go here, Antec Power Supply Calculator to check if you need a PSU update.

    Windows 7 FAQ and Questions

Re: Windows 7 Thread and FAQ I tested Windows 7 Ultimate x86 on a Pentium M (1.60Ghz), 512mb RAM, Onboard Intel GPU/Chipset; it runs great (330mb RAM usage aprox.), just a little laggy, but I think it is because of the processor. Maybe system requirements are wrong?

Is this a good mid-range gaming build?

Ok, first of all I'm new here :D...
