    Gaming Laptop Purchase

I am buying a new gaming laptop as a gift to my son for graduating Boot Camp (Navy). I have a max budget of $2500 but I would prefer to keep it in the $2000 area if possible. Requirements: 17"+ HD Screen Blu-Ray ODD Minimum 256GB SSD would prefer 500GB 1TB Storage HDD GeForce 980m...

    Upgrading both my systems

I have been very happy with both my TX's and the CX I have has been trouble free so far. It replaced a Thermaltake in my really old build that is on its 4th PSU. I may just have to go with seasonic the next time I need another PSU. Thanks for sharing.

    Upgrading both my systems

I didn't realize this. Do you know who is manufacturing the PSU for them?

    Upgrading both my systems

How is eVGA's quality compared to ASUS? Do they see more failures? Its nice to have good CS when a failure occurs. But I would rather not have the failure. I won't put anything but a Corsair PSU in my builds. After failures with a couple other brands, all my Corsairs are still running. A couple...

Not a fan of ASUS I take it?

    Upgrading both my systems

The ASUS 970's are out of stock on Newegg atm. I prefer ASUS as I haven't had failures with their hardware like I have with other brands. But I can be patient for now. Thanks again.

    Upgrading both my systems

Will a single 970 really out perform a pair of 760's? I figure this system will last me another couple years and it will be time to build again. And if they are that much better, what about just going with a single GTX 980? Its a fair amount more money than a 970, and I am not sure the...

    Upgrading both my systems

So I am considering upgrading both my computer systems. One build is about 4 years old (my wife's) and my build is 2 years old. I list the system specs separately and what I was considering doing with them. My Rig: TWR: Cooler Master HAF X MB: ASUS ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 LGA 1155 CPU: Intel Core...

    Time for another build.

Well I just placed the order. It should be here mid week. Thanks again for the help looking at this build.

    Time for another build.

The HAF X has a lot of features that my 932 doesn't. And I am not trying to take anything away from Corsair's product. But for me at that price I don't see a benefit over my other options. I like full tower cases and that only leaves me with the 800D as an option. Its $100 more than the HAF X...

    Time for another build.

Well if I start having temperature problems or the fans die, I can always replace them with something better. The fans in my current case have held up well over the past 2 years, but I have not been OC'd creating a lot of heat either.

    Time for another build.

I appreciate your thoughts, but I just don't see where the Corsair is worth $100 more than the HAF X. I currently have the HAF 932 Advanced sitting next to me which is about the same case and have been very happy with it. I don't know why anyone looking at full tower ATX cases would expect...

    Time for another build.

The case I am looking at comes with a VGA Bracket to support the video card. I assume that is what you are reffering to. I thought that would be sufficient support for it. I have no prior experience with either this case or the card though. I will be going to the i5 to save a $100 to put toward...

    Time for another build.

So with a little more review, I only see about $250 difference in the suggestions mentioned which doesn't matter a whole lot. I have always been intrigued by water cooling, but I have never been able to convince myself to go there when air cooling has always worked for me. So the changes I have...
