Thought I would follow through since I started the thread. It was a blown fuse, looked like the one on the far right. Ordered a new psu for him that should last for the next few years.

Same thoughts as me, glad to know I was on the right track. I assumed psu or motherboard right away. Would there ever be burnt marks or spots on the connectors or would it just be the wires that are damaged?

Scanned with MB and showed 5 pieces of non-malware, registy keys i believe. So far no malware/virus detected on the computer. EDIT: After waiting to contact CS for ISP, open sessions went down from 80-100 to 50-60, no idea why. ISP will be sending replacement modem and will arrive tomorrow...

Already have Windows Update to check for updates. Only thing that auto updates is Avast. I've scanned with Spybot, Windows Defender, and Avast and I haven't found anything.

Double checked and I don't. Closed all VPN, p2p, pando media booster, and anything that mentioned it being an update service.
