    History Censored?

I believe that if people in a community like this do not wish to hear profanity, they have a right to express that desire and have it honored. Some people just don't like profanity, and I respect that. Now, about profanity being a marker of ignorance. I am a Corrections Officer, profanity is...

    Question on 64bit Windows XP

Everything I hear on XP 64 has focused on it's short-comings. But, this is to be expected because it's still in it's infancy. And until a stable 64bit OS is offered, everything else is pretty much just a marketing ploy. There really isn't that much software or hardware optimized for 64 bit...

    Firefox Help

Go to "File", and click on "Work Offline". That should re-establish your connection.

    Spyaxe

Hi guys, haven't been on the forums for a bit, but I need some help. A friend of mine has inadevertently downloaded Spyaxe. I remember a few of you guys posting the removal procedure for this thing, but I can't seem to find it. If someone would be so kind as to point me to this, I would...

    Mozilla

Firefox is the best there is. I'm not certain I understand what you're trying to do, but it sounds like you're trying to save a link or download something. Just click on the link and choose "Save link as"

    whos got myspace?

Okay, I'll take a chance and go see what the hype is all about. My son is on myspace, and I'm curious to see what's so engrossing about the place. Of course, he can't understand why I spend so much time here, guess when he finds out that the majority of you are his age, he'll start modding rigs...

Sorry to bother the computer savvy for such a trivial topic...RAM.

This is a Laptop if I remember correctly. Now then, have you tried putting another 512Mb of RAM in this rig? Honestly though, your rig is geared more towards mobile computing, not gaming. Galaxies isn't a high-end game, have you already tried running it on your rig?

What does the computer world need?

I would personally like to see the continued development of Linux as a feasible alternative for Windows. As a matter of fact, I would like to see more folks besides us computer geeks get involved in the open source movement. I feel the whole software development world is being terribly stifled...

    new

Welcome aboard. What's the hold up on building the new rig? You stuck on something? Looks like a decent setup you have there. I'd be up nights trying to get that sucker humming. If you have any questions (or solutions!) be sure to ask away.

    the introductshun

Welcome aboard. Hope you you enjoy being here. Most of the people on the forum are good people, and are here to help out as much as possible. The ones who are a pain never hang around long, so no big deal. So, what kinda gear you runnin'?

    new mother board question(s)

You have an issue here, I grant you that. It sounds to me like you may indeed have a mobo issue going on. My stock answer to this problem is to call Dell and ask for a replacement. Unfortunately, Dell is horrible with customer service, especially if the solution costs them any money. I think you...

    Problem.

I agree, update the video drivers and make sure you have the latest version of DirectX as well. Also, just because you formatted your HDD does not mean that you can rule out a virus issue. You may have something in the MBR that didn't get erased when you formatted, or it could be elsewhere...

Is it possible to install an OS on a USB key?

Interesting question, but I have never tried this before. I'm curious, do you have a specific need to do this or are you just experimenting? Knoppix is a great distro and runs from the CD. You might try that if you're looking for portability. If you do figure this out, let us know, I would be...

    world of warcraft

Yep, I am almost certain that you have a memory issue. However, the comment that jorsoft03 made is also a good point. WOW is a HUGE game and hogs resources bad, especially memory. I had some issues with it when I initially installed it, and it turned out that I needed to shutdown some apps I...

    Boycott! Yesssss.

Linux is infectious, once you make the change and learn a bit about it, you understand the hype around it. As for choosing, no need for that. You can have the best of both worlds, just do a dual-boot setup. I have Windows XP Pro on my rig and Fedora Linux. If you aren't comfortable with setting...
