    8800gt vs 9600gt - which silent card?

This is crazy but I actually realized this exact same option based on Tom's Hardware Best Cards for the Money July 2008 article. PCI-EXPRESS INTERFACE: $200 to $450 - Tom's Hardware : Best Graphics Cards For The Money: July '08 It is a bit more expensive, especially once you add the heatsink...

    8800gt vs 9600gt - which silent card?

I'm looking for a new passively cooled video card for my living room/gaming computer. I currently have a 8600gt from MSI that has done a good job, but as you probably know, the 8600 series wasn't quite up to par. I'm thinking about either of these two: ECS N8800GT-512MX+ GeForce 8800 GT $145...

Now BSOD in Vista; Memory test errors - help!

This morning the memory test yield zero errors! Last night I had about 600 errors in each stick. It's running fine now... I can only assume that the board or psu was giving some power/voltage issues, or that the sticks were overheating due to gameplay? Note: the stick's are about 1/4 inch...

Now BSOD in Vista; Memory test errors - help!

Last night I played Team Fortress 2 for the 1st time and I got the BSOD. Thinking this was a game bug, I restarted but then got it again while loading the game. The third time it blue screened loading steam. Fourth time, just in windows. Uh oh. I eliminated my CPU over clock (my ram...

    Can Windows prevent POST?

Yeah, I was pretty sure of that too. But I couldn't figure out why it POSTs fine 100% of the time from a powered off mode but not from a standby mode. I'm guessing it has more to do with the board settings in standby and the CMOS just clears some cache and it acts as a powered off start...

I have the following specs (recently installed) Intel E6420 Gigabyte P35-DS3R 2x1 GB Crucial Ballsitix Windows Vista Ultimate (32-bit) When my computer goes into sleep, it does not resume. The lights come on, but my monitor stays asleep (no signal). If i manually power down and restart...

    wanting to overclock my E6420

Er...that's hard to say because parts/manufacturers vary but its pretty rare for higher quality stuff to go bad earlier. With your stuff, I think it will all still be running in 6 years even overclocked. If you had ECS mobo, VIA chipset, value RAM and a cheap PSU, then you'd have problems. As...

Results from E6420 and Gigabyte P35-DS3R

Thanks for the tip. For $20, not too expensive. I saw you're getting the same Mobo. In hindsight, it may be a good idea with the the P35C-DS3R. That one supports DDR3 slots as well and supports 45nm CPUs. Subtle difference. I think it's $20 more than the one I got.
