true true! i have not personally tried nero recode 2 in an x64 environment, but ill take your word for it. its ashame there is not more nicely written x64 apps out.

there is not just *one* mobo driver. a motherboard consists of many many many pieces of hardware that require drivers, most of which will be automatically detected by XP x64, unless there is fancy RAID or sound on the board.

along with what everyone else says (especially gurusan) pro has the ability to use software RAID. only if your friend has a RAID-0 or RAID-5 implemented (which im sure he dosent) there is no performance upgrade.

its probably a bad connection, but other things to look at is to make sure those parts you replaced are exactly the same part number (im sure it is but mistakes can be made)
