Default windows 7 wont stop updating

So Newly installed windows 7 ultimate, bout a week now, never seems to be up to date. I disabled auto update, which is not the problem.

The problem is everytime I update windows, I restart it and install the updates, but then check for updates again and theres 2 more important ones that want to be downloaded!?? It is like I can never get it up to date, I have done this three times now back to back to back and new updates seem to just keep coming, It is very frustrating what is going on?

heres just a few of the ones I am getting

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2547666)
Installation date: ‎12/‎7/‎2011 2:30 PM
Installation status: Successful
Update type: Recommended
Install this update to resolve issues in Windows. For a complete listing of the issues that are included in this update, see the associated Microsoft Knowledge Base article for more information. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.
More information:
You cannot delete long URLs from the browsing history in Internet Explorer on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2
Help and Support:
Microsoft Support

And theres a lot more where that came from of the same type, and others unlike it as well.

Any suggestions?

thanks!

Did you install SP1? That might be your problem.

SP1? I have no idea what that is so no

I am looking through the link you gave but it is all greek to me, It just seems like there should be an update for this, ha!

My software expertiese extends nothign beyond being good at navigating the system but truly fixing things, eh. I just dont understand why it would do this its brand new, I would think paying 300$ for an OS would get me perfection but I guess I am dreaming lol!

Anyho, Heres what I found from the link.

Prompting to Install the Same Updates Every Day
If you are being asked to install the same updates every day, then the catalogue that manages what updates you have installed is probably corrupt. There are a number of resolutions that you can try, in order to resolve this problem.
Resolution 1
  1. Open "Computer Management" from within Administrative Tools in Control Panel.
  2. Expand the Services and Applications branch.
  3. In the list of services, find "Automatic Updates" (Windows XP) or "Windows Update" (Windows 7 and Vista)
  4. Right click on it and choose "restart". If this option isn't available, choose "Stop" and then once the service has been stopped, right click again and choose "Start".
Resolution 2
  1. Stop the "Automatic Updates" service from within "Services" in "Computer Management".
  2. Browse to Program Files, Windows Update.
Note: If you don't see the "Windows Update" folder, then you need to turn on "Show Hidden Files and Folders". To do this click on Tools, Folder options. Then choose the "View" tab. Scroll down until you find the section "Hidden Files and Folders" and change the radio button to "Show hidden files and folders".
  3. Delete everything in that folder except for the folder called "V4".
  4. Double click on the "V4 folder".
  5. Delete everything in that folder except for "iuhist.xml" (you may not see the xml extension if you don't view extensions normally).
  6. Close the Explorer windows. If you had to enable "Show Hidden Files and Folders" then change the option back if you don't want to see them normally.
  7. Restart the "Automatic Updates" service.

I tried the forst resolution with no resolution. After I did it I told it to check for updates and the updates are still there, should I download and install and see if they reapear?

I get stuck on step 2 resolution 2, where is program files?

thanks!

Service Package 1. It is a mandatory update. It fixes a whole mess of problems.

Should be in Windows Updates.

But, if not: Learn how to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
