I was wondering if anyone on this board had experience writing algorithms vs. buying them from a library? On the surface, it seems like that is a great bargain, especially for complicated mathematics. For example, the Numerical Algorithm Group costs $3000 per year and allows unlimited download of algorithms. They also test them for accuracy and help the user plug them into your code. I'm curious if any opinions on buying vs. programming algorithms yourself?
I'm also wondering if anyone had actual experience with such a service and did you find it useful and well run? Would you recommend this type of paid-for service?
