Default New build: strange issues

Hey guys,

I recently put together this build:

i7-2600k
Asus p8z68 V Pro
8gb crucial ram
Nvidia 480gtx
1tb hitachi Sata drive
antec water cooler

My problem is specifically related to severe under performance in prime 95: which appears to fail immediately after starting. Add to that a rather poor mark in 3d mark11. Anytime i try to change a setting in the bios I get a BSOD. If I try to use turbo mode in the included ASUS software I get bsod. I updated the original bios but still no change. I ran checkdisk just to make sure the hdd was good, it passed. I also recently ran memtest86 and my memory passed everything except test 7 the block test.

Is this one failure enough to lead to all my problems?

The only other thought I had is that it could be that my powersupply is too low. Its 600 watts. Is that too low for my system? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated as I am getting very frustrated

What brand is your power supply?
A low quality power supply, regardless of wattage, could cause some odd issues.

What are your temps then running Prime 95?
What does Prime 95 say when it fails?
Are you overclocked? If so, revert to defaults.

I'd have to say it may be the PSU.

I'll send you $30 if they don't release a PC version (GTA 5) within 12months of console release. You can totally hold me to that. Write it down or copy it into your sig. -Kmanx to PP 11/7/2012
