24 pin mobo connector powered by 20 pin psu connector??

From what I understand you can do this. The system is a pentium haswell running on the intel graphics from that chip. No graphics card and no wireless card. I would just like some assurance that this is fine to do before i start up the system. I am building this computer for someone else and don't want to have to spend 60 bucks out of pocket for another mobo because I fried his new one :annoyed:

Yesteryear this was fine, but I don't know if it will work now with the newer CPUs having better power saving features and all. Just try it and see if it will work. Worst that will happen is it simply won't turn on.
