My family is switching from Verizon to US Cellular and instead of buying another iPhone 5S I've decided to use a temporary android phone until the iPhone 6 is released.

The phone that I have available is a Samsung Galaxy Fascinate SCH-I500 running Android 2.3.5. I've done some research and I've found that it's possible to upgrade the phone to Kit Kat, but every guide I see refers to the Verizon version. Does it make a difference if it's a US Cellular phone? The guides say it works with the SCH-I500 but I want to be 100% sure so I don't end up doing something stupid.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm not very familiar with Android devices.

I installed Cyanogen mod 10.1 and everything seems to be working good.

Carriers won't care if it's not running stock, right?

No problem lol.

Only issue that could come up is if you had to warranty the phone...but since its a fairly old phone then I don't see that being an issue.
