I currently have a hand-me-down iPhone 4 and it is beyond slow. I was looking through Black Friday ads and found the LG G3 free online with an upgrade. I do have an upgrade, but my parents are a bit against going through the trouble of upgrading my phone. Any ideas on how to convince my parents? Thank you to all in advance!

You are definately right to change to an LG G3, it runs rings around the iPhone, i recently bought a nexus 5 and in the pricess of choosing a phone, i found several lists with the best smartphones. In at least 3, the G3 was at the top, followed by the one-plus-one, and the nexus 5. The only reason i went for the nexus 5 is because its a bit smaller. Try finding a list like this, and it may persuade then.
