Windows 7, Vista Zero-Day Flaw Reported

Security researchers claim that a new zero-day vulnerability affecting Windows 7 and Vista could cause a critical system error and allow for remote code execution.

Gaffie said he had contacted Microsoft. Comments on his blog by other users said that the flaw could lead not only to denial of service, but could also lead to remote code execution.

Windows 7 Unaffected By Zero-Day Flaw

According to this security advisory, reports of a zero-day flaw that supposedly affected Windows 7 are not true. The final version of Microsoft's latest OS is not vulnerable to the attacks, everyone can calm down.

Microsoft is investigating new public reports of a possible vulnerability in Microsoft Server Message Block (SMB) implementation. We are not aware of attacks that try to use the reported vulnerabilities or of customer impact at this time. We are actively working with partners in our Microsoft Active Protections Program (MAPP) to provide information that they can use to provide broader protections to customers.
