Question about virus.

My friends laptop has Win8 on it. For like a month, it wouldn't turn on. It would start to load, then crash. Today I tried it, and it worked as if it never had a problem. I factory reset the computer, will this fix the problem? (I won't be able to respond for two hours, I'm at work. I'm just typing this on my break.

It should depending on what it had. Factory reset wipes and resets but if it's a virus that embeds into the MBR or RAM you'll still have issues.

I agree with pp on that use these 2 links provided to make sure you don't have a system boot infection.
If so note which one it is and bring it back if eset can't remove it alone.
