How do you setup all the Joomla permissions?

How can you setup all the Joomla permissions correctly without manually changing all the permissions. For instance when you use a web host once you click install all the permissions are setup correctly without having to fiddle with the settings. How can you do that on your own server or computer?

I'm assuming it runs a script that contains all the commands to setup the permissions correctly.

Yes. Do you know where I could find that script?

I'd have to look through the install package to dig out the script(s) or .htaccess files it's writing.
