wireless antenna

i found there is someone with a wireless network close to were i live about 75-100 ft away using a dell XPS i get 2 bars of signal strength.With my desktop using a Linksys Pci Wireless card i got no signal at the same location as the laptop.So i cut the antenna's cable on the pci card and tried extending it with standard analog cable (coax) and it worked but the signal was still low and it was dropping and reconnecting every few minutes .Now it doesnt seem to work at all
which cud be the possible cause ?

If you connected to their wifi, they msy have detected it or just wised up and / or configure not broad cast the ssid / turned off the wi fi all together.
LOL you could always call them on the phone and ask them
