WHy does my wireless keep disconnecting??!!!!?!?!?!

Well i have a BRAND new ASUS wireless card for my laptop. and a brand new Hawking router

This is a constant problem for me on my laptop. It seriously keeps disconnecting and connecting back about every other minute.

What can I do to fix this?

Its getting REALLY annoying.

Try resetting everything. Or unplug everything. Wait a minute. Turn it on again.

tried that..its doing it about every 30seconds now

i can look at the graph in the ASUS software, and the signal just drops every 30secs or so.

is it my router?

oh yeah. i have my dell desktop on a wired connection. and it never loses connection.

Do you have the router or the laptop near anything like a 2.4 Ghz cordless phone, microwave oven, baby monitor, or something else that operates in the 2.4 Ghz range that might be causing the interference?

Have you tried re-installing the drivers for the laptop's network card?

haha yeah its right near the phone (2.4Ghz) and kinda near the microwave.

and i reinstalled the drivers last night. didnt help. i stayed connected all day saturday at my reliatives house on their linksys router. didnt drop connection once.

I bet if you go on your computer, and then you turn the microwave on, you will get some latency, or maybe even a disconnect from the router. Same with the cordless phone... You might want to re-locate the phone, or your computer. Try moving your computer to a different place for a day or two, and see if the trouble goes away.
