Default Router not recognizing internet

I came back to my college apartment on friday and the internet was working fine. There was a storm on friday night/saturday morning and it knocked the internet out. A guy came out and fixed the port and I can connect fine now when I'm directly connected to the wall. But the problem is when I plug in my router WRT54GSV4 the internet light stays off saying that it's not recognizing the connection (it worked friday night). Anyone have any idea of what to do? I'm clueless as to how the computer can recognize it and connect where as the router won't. I've reset the router to default settings, unplugged it for 10 minutes, etc. and still nothing.

Not knowing how your setup is at school i would assume your router needs to be set to dhcp for wan. it may need a mac clone but you could ask the techs there for the router setup needed.

The problem was that the port that my line was on went bad. I've already cloned the MAC. And it is set to DHCP. And it worked fine before. I don't see what would have happened to make it not recognize the internet anymore.

Try another router if available. Unfortunately power surges can really mess up electronics.

Guess I'll wait until tomorrow and test it at a friends place, or test another router here. Thanks for the suggestions.

Well, I found out what happened. When the t1 port blew it sent a surge through the ethernet cord and fried the input for the router and fried the input for my xbox 360. At least that's the only logical conclusion I can come to. Just a great way to start off my week.
