| Remote Desktop Connection HELP! Is it possible to establish a remote desktop connection from a different IP adress/network. What I am trying to do is connect to my home xp pro based pc while at work and am having incredible difficulty trying to figure it out with the firewall ports as well as the internal vs. external IP adress. I am becoming more confused as I try to figure it out so if someone could explain in detail how I can connect to my home pc from work I would greatly apprecieate it. |

| On ur home pc right click my comp go to properties and the remote tab, and tick the second option. Then in ur router u must foward port 3389 to the lan ip of the comp u want to access. Then from work you can access it by using ur wan ip.
you can get ur wan ip here http://www.ip-adress.com/

| In your router page, look for something like port fowarding or virtual server

| Dosent simply checking the box next to Remote Desktop automaticaly forward port 3389. So once I do this and all the other GUI configurations for remote connection on the host/home PC I can simple enter the WAN IP when trying to connect from my work pc. If there is something technical I am missing please let me know and explain it to me in detail. Thank you. |

| If you have a router it will block it unless you foward the port.
