Downloads freeze and everything takes forever to load

I'm staying at my grandparents house atm, and ever since I got here, my internet has been incredibly slow, and all downloads freeze. Not only regular downloads, but if I'm watching a YouTube video, the red progress bar will freeze halfway, and if I'm waiting for a flash to load on Newgrounds, the preloader will just freeze and I will have to refresh the page countless times for it to finish. Sometimes if I refresh the page, it will only load halfway and freeze, and the loading animation of the circle will continue to play. I know it isn't my computer because all my other relatives that have laptops including my grandpa's desktop have the same problem. I am connected wirelessly to his router. I don't know much about networking. Anybody know how to fix this, if possible?

Sounds like a crappy router, if you move closer to the router does the signal strength improve? Try turning off all the other PC's in the area so that your the only one accessing the router and see if you speed up.

I wouldn't think the distance is the problem, since the desktop is right next to it and has the same problem. I also have used it when everybody else was asleep and their computers were off and it still did that =/.

What type of connection do you have? Cable, DSL? The last time my cable slowed down I called Comcast and in a few days it was fast again. I would report the problem to your ISP and see if it's their fault. If it's still slow I would try a different router.

Yes they do have Comcast and I do think they have DSL. I will tell him to contact Comcast.
