Question Creating a new Laptop connection through router? (laptop)

Ok, I have a host computer that uses DSL. It is connected to the internet through a Router, I use a LAN connection. I have the host computer connected to the router, and 2 more computers directly connected to the router. All 3 computers have internet access and work.

Now, I want to get my Laptop to run on the internet like the others. So I disconnected one of the 2 computers and put the plug into the router.

How do I create a new connection on my Laptop? I tried messing around, but I don’t want to damage anything. It seems different on the laptop, than the two desktop computers. I use a Linksys router by the way (BEFSR41).

Please help, thanks!.
