Default can't open any ports

hey guys,

i'm trying to enable remote desktop access in windows xp home. i'm want to use real vnc or ultra vnc and i'm trying to get the ports open. I'm using a Linksys RT31P2 router. I even turn off windows firewall and then go and enable for example port 3389 in the router as both udp and tcp. I then go to "canyouseeme.org" and punch in the port i just enabled and it says that it isn't open everytime. anyone have any ideas?

Windows XP home edition SP2
Linksys RT31P2 router
Bellsouth ISP (says they only block port 25)

are you sure you need 3389? DMZ opens all the nessesary ports for internet to program access, which is most of the ports.

What about a firewall and anti virus, are you sure those are open too?

3389 is for RDP

the default port for VNC is 5900.
