I installed Xubuntu 14.04 on my Chromebook, but I really didn't like XFCE, so I installed the MATE desktop, which was much better. To free up limited disk space, I ran a command at this url: unity - How to completely remove Xubuntu and install Ubuntu (including boot screen etc.) - Ask Ubuntu

Halfway through I realized how stupid I was to have barely looked at the page, and I saw that the command was removing Xubuntu login stuff and important Xubuntu parts, but it was just taking them out without putting something else in their place, meaning I probably have no login screen or boot screen. The guide was apparently meant for UNITY users that installed xubuntu-desktop. It still works now but I'm not sure for how much longer. How do I fix this? Like, installing the Ubuntu MATE login screen?
