SOPA seems more for online content, PIPA is more of protecting your products/services it seems like, but they go hand in hand anymore with how technology works.

It's a catch-22, if they do pass it ISP's aren't going to give their customer information away. The second something says it was Sam at X address that is downloading pirated information that ISP will lose all sorts of business.

PIPA is just the Senates version of SOPA, in a nutshell. Both contain(ed) DNS blocking and so both are just as wrong.

The movie industry fought television for years because they thought they would lose money to it. Then they fought VCRs. Then DVDs. Now they want to rape the whole internet.

If the motion picture industry would stop trying to screw us and actually put out stuff people wanted to see it would be fine. Outside of a few blockbusters most movies today are crap, theaters are extremely overpriced and crappy, and people aren't stupid.

Personally I go see very few movies as only a few are worth the price and the hassle. I am content to wait for the DVD release. And I buy very few DVDs as there are very few movies worth buying anymore. I buy more TV series than I do movies nowadays.

It breaks the constitution.

i do not agree. if that was true, then you could apply the same ideology to posting child porn on the internet. Both are illegal and both should not be covered by the free speech amendment.

The issue is not with the first amendment, from what I can tell SOPA allows for sites to be taken down due to nothing other than accusations, basically guilty until proven innocent. Since corporations are legally people now it seems that SOPA would violate there 4th and/or 5th amendment rights.

This is what I am saying. If someone claims something about my website, it can get taken down without my knowledge or notification based of a hunch with no proof.

You would be ****ed if police arrested and detained you based on a hunch with no proof.

I don't support SOPA and PIPA, and I've sent an e-mail to my state's senators and Representative voicing my views.
I suggest you guys do the same instead of arguing here.
