^actually, this program was made to do legal stuff as well. E.g. it could copy your home movies onto dvd, or copy non-copyrighted dvds.

The same thing you were saying about cars and guns also fits for this program. All can do things that are both legal and illegal.
 
well fine..there aren't substitutes for things like cars and guns...but there are plenty of legal programs to do the legal portions of what this program done lol
 
Yeah, suppose so. It's just for cars and guns, law enforcement goes after the user. I'm just saying, why not the same thing for programs like these? Double standards suck.
 
Most of the other programs that could copy your home DVDs couldn't rip the copy protection off of retail DVDs, either. That's what sunk Real with this.

It's like having nitrous on a street car. It serves no legal purposes outside of a drag strip and is illegal in most states. Had Real put this out without the ability to remove copy protection there would have never been anything said.
 
I still think everyone should be able to make backups of their own discs. It's not like they're bulletproof.

Or are they... :O
