xbox 360 slim disc was still spinning after eject

well i was playing a bit of brink and i got bored so i dashboarded it
waited awhile as i was on my computer as well at the time and i pressed eject the disc tray came out and the disc was still spinning for a a few seconds it wouldnt bother me usally but it scratched my game a bit its only ever done this once :S please help

just need help into why it did it and how to stop it from happening again it scratches your discs and its anoyying
