Hello,

I have a ATI Radeon 9000 right now and I am looking to get a new graphics card, an Nvidea to be exact. I'm not exactly sure what slot type to look for, for the Nvidias and I can't find what the Radeon 9000's slot type is.

it is either PCI or AGP more likely AGP though.

what are your other system specs, that will help everyone to decide on a card that would be good for you.
will you be gaming?
what is your budget?

Windows XP, Intel Pentium 4 (1.6)
PCI bus, Radeon 9000 vid card, Sound blaster
640 RAM, 50mb HD

Ya..thats IF You can afford it! But i would buy a cheaper graphics card I would go with darklords second recommdation. and maybe get a bigger harddisk or a faster one.. I am using raptors and they are **** fast.... how did u get 640 RAM?

If he has a 50MB hard disk drive, he probably has 640K RAM. lol..He didn't specify that it was megabytes.

Lol, sorry about the typo I meant 50GB HD lol. And I have a question, is a 256 graphics better than a 128 grahpics card? any why?

Also ghostly raptors is a brand of Hard drive correct?

I will be gaming, I want to to be able to play EQ2 smoothly when it comes out. I could pay $500 but I would rather not.

I think the best card for those specs and not too expensive would be the Nvidia GeForce 5700 Ultra (about 175$) or the Radeon 9800 Pro (about 220$) i heard the 5900 series has problems with the drivers but have no proof to back that up... anyway good hunting. btw [url]www.newegg.com[/url] has very reasonable prices and fast shipping.

Macattack, you play EQ? I feel sorry for you already... very addictive, can ruin your life fast.

Anyways, you can find out what kind of VGA slot you have by using CPU-Z, it is in my signature below. There is a section called "AGP" under the "Mainboard" tab, it will either say "4x" or "8x".

Heard worse with the 5700 Ultra. I would advise for the 5900, but i have a 9800 Pro and i say it's alot better than my other card 5900xt (yes, it's a budget card, i kno, but still better than a 5700 Ultra).

my 5700 card, (not ultra though) stopped working after two months. Dont know what happened to it, but I had a sh!tty case before so perhaps it got overheated. Oh well gonna ship it out tomorrow for a replacement.
