Ok, I am about to get a laptop and I want a nice orinoco wireless G card for it with a directional antenna (for personal internet of course) The one I have in mind is this one...

Firstly I would like to know if this combonation of products is possible, and if so what range would I expect from a wireless router at my house? Second how much battery juice do you think it would take away from the laptop. And thirdly where is a good place to buy that directional antenna, the wireless card I can get easily.

If those combination of products can't be used together, what other GOOD products will? Thanks in advance.

So long as the Proxim cards are the exact same as the Orinoco cards I have at home, that combination will work. You'll need one additional piece of equipment.

The range is going to vary depending on what is in the way. The more stuff, such as walls and trees, the less distance that you will get.

The wireless cards can eat your battery up pretty quickly. They can also be put into a power save mode, but that will slow it down as well.
