Ballistix 512MB DDR2-667 240-pin DIMM ram is on http://www.crucial.com/ballistix Posted by: jblaze725 ive never heard of ballistix but i would say that 1 gig of good name brand pc3200 memory would be better than the half gig of ballistix. Posted by: Bulldog You have a mobo that supports DDR2? Posted by: geo3tech any professional's answer??? Posted by: Apokalipse DDR2 isn't that great as of now, but it should get better. I'd say if you really want DDR2, just get 512MB Kingston PC3200 for now, and wait a few months for DDR2 to mature otherwise Corsair has got excellent PC3200 RAM, with really low latencies Posted by: Apokalipse I want to see Corsair's RAM on an X800, with its 2-2-2-5 timings Posted by: OIDanTheManIO it depends on wat ur doin, i would say that if u need more than 512, uve got a porblem unless u do lots of large video editiing Posted by: Anon Read this article to find out if you should buy DDR2. http://www.tomshardware.com/firstlook/20040716/ Ballistix is just the name of Curcials Proformance memory. Curucial/Ballistix is a name brand, in fact they are the lagest producers of Dram in the united states. Top 3 manufacturers in the world are: Samsung, hynix, and Micron technology. (micron owns crucial) Micron is the first memory semiconductor manufacturer to gain Intel validation across all densities, speeds, and configurations of DDR2 SDRAM components and modules. http://www.micron.com/products/dram/ddr2sdram/validation.html Note: Kingston does not produce memory it buys RAM/die (those black squares on the ram module) from actual Dram manufacurers and puts it on a module, then sells the module with kingston label. so you dont know if your getting some ram they bought from a small company no one has heard of or if its good quality ram from a company like micron or samsung. i would not reccomend kingston if your looking for "high" performance ram.
